Asbestos Register Updates & Asbestos Management Plan Updates

In Australia it’s a requirement that if you have ACM or its even presumed in a workplace building or site. You must have the Asbestos Register reviewed and the Management Plan updated at least every 5 years. You must have this carried out by a competent person who carries out another Asbestos Survey or Audit to update the site information. I find it’s only the WH & S Officers of sites who are organised and set up reminders that actually carry this out! The remainder just seem to stumble along until a sale, or lease prompts them or they get a fine or improvement notice from WorkSafe. Yet I have other clients we have been reinspecting for 20 plus years… Example shown was a good one though- LDB ceiling tiles throughout, the next time we went there was for it to be leased out two years later and all the LDB ceilings had been removed (by a Licensed Asbestos Removalist) but it did expose previously hidden AC sheeting infill panels. Illustrating the need to update and review the Register as soon as possible after any removal works.
